“Come Together“ Concert Tour Featuring Ian Maksin and the Vilnius Guitar Trio

An American cello virtuoso, internationally acclaimed artist, and composer, Ian Maksin, comes to Lithuania in March at the invitation of the U. S. Embassy in Vilnius and arts promotion company Arts Libera International. The cellist will reunite with the famous Lithuanian guitar masters of Vilnius Guitar Trio for a joint concert, “Come Together,“ scheduled to tour five towns in Lithuania. Ian Maksin‘s visit to Lithuania is a part of a U.S. State Department “Arts Envoy“ program, which showcases American talent around the world and promotes inter-cultural dialogue. Bringing together U.S. and Lithuanian artists, the concert tour is part of the U.S. Embassy’s centennial celebration of the restoration of Lithuanian statehood.

As a soloist and a member of international ensembles, the celebrated cellist gives more than two hundred public performances annually in North and South America, Europe and Asia. He has performed in many prestigious concert halls throughout the world and has appeared on stage together with such stars as Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Gloria Estefan, and Barry Gibb. A musician with a unique sound and profound musical dexterity, Ian Maksin captivates audiences around the globe both as an impeccable classical artist and an innovative jazz and rock soloist. Last year his spirited and inimitable performances greatly moved audiences in Lithuania. This year, the music lovers will embark on a new musical journey under the spell of the highly professional stage virtuosos.

The concert program is broad in scope and diverse in genre, stretching from golden classics to fiery tango, jazz, and rock compositions. According to the performers, the program is intended for those who appreciate the inspiring power of a finely chiseled emotion and the subtlety of professional eloquence on stage. The concert will feature a diverse collection of compositions by J. S. Bach, A. Piazzolla, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Ch. Corea, B. Goodman, The Eagles, D. Ellington, I. Maksin, Sting, and other world-renowned composers. The audiences will hear agile improvisations, unexpected harmonies, stirring melodies and, certainly, musical surprises. New sound devotees and high art fans alike are all welcome to embrace this unique chance to experience music afresh!
