Monday dance for babies is a dance class for children of 8-14 months age and their parents or grandparents where they explore various objects and movements. Dancers-teachers lead them to dance world by trying different movements which develop coordination, balance and fine motor skills. These experiences will further lead into dance perception and interpretation, which might be expressed by children not only verbally, but also kinesthetically. During the activities adults will find out how babies understand dance and how their express their understanding. For parents who care to nurture their children it is important to learn to notice their reactions as well as to wait for their answers which might be not verbal, but kinesthetic.
Dancers-teachers are well-known choreographers and pedagogues (in Vilnius Birutė Banevičiūtė and Giedrė Subotinaitė, in Kaunas Mantas Stabačinskas and Marius Pinigis) who for long time worked with children and gave seminars for teachers nationally and internationally (in Sweeden, Ukraine, Palestine, Belgium, China, Korea, etc.). B. Banevičiūtė owns a doctoral degree of social sciences after she delivered her thesis on children dance skills education.
