Event has passed.
The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights is an impressive example of dark heritage. The museum welcomes visitors to meaningfully spend their free time by getting to know a hard and tragic period to Lithuanian people of 1940-1991.
The museum was established in 1992 and is situated in the very centre of Vilnius. The building, known by many as the former KGB office, to most local people is a symbol of the Soviet occupation.
In the former KGB jail internal cells, death sentence execution room and in former offices of KGB officers the contemporary expositions introduce the visitors to the repressions of the first Soviet occupation, the holocaust during the Nazi occupation, 1944-1953 armed anti-Soviet resistance, mass resident imprisonment in gulags, forced life in exile and active citizen resistance against the Soviet occupation from 1954 until 1991.
The visitor ticket also includes the opportunity of same day visit to the Memorial Complex of the Tuskulėnai Peace Park (Žirmūnų st. 1F, 1N). https://tuskulenumemorialas.lt/nuolatines-ekspozicijos/
